July Newsletter: Our New Home

Hello and welcome to the latest newsletter from PA Accounting.

The past few weeks have been some of our busiest of the year so far, with new clients coming in for meetings and long-standing clients continuing to grow and evolve. Making Tax Digital filings and much more have kept us busy — and it is not slowing down.

Our new home

Earlier this year, we moved to Wem Business Park and many of you saw our new office. Thanks to your continued support and the number of new clients joining us, we have now taken the next step and moved into what we hope will be our long-term home — just on the other side of the car park.

We are now based in a stand-alone office space with room for meetings and, of course, a good coffee. There is plenty of parking available, and we are still conveniently close to Wem town centre.

A big thank you to every client who has supported us over the last ten years. We truly appreciate it.

What we have been up to

July has been a particularly busy month as we prepared to complete our first Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self Assessment filings. By the deadline, everything was completed, submitted and finished.

For future quarterly filings, each Making Tax Digital client will receive a six-month summary showing how profits and turnover are looking. This gives a clearer, more accurate picture of the trading year as it progresses.

Over the next two months, anyone who needs to register for Making Tax Digital for the 2027–28 tax year will be contacted. This gives everyone plenty of time to prepare and become familiar with how the process will work.

The faces in the office

Our office team now includes three full-time members of staff: Annette, Rob and Danielle. Each of us has our own roles and clients within the business, and we work together to make sure clients receive the support they need.

Annette

Annette is a main point of contact for payroll, VAT returns and limited company submissions. She supports clients with weekly and monthly payroll, Companies House and HMRC submissions, as well as a number of long-standing sole trader relationships.

Rob

Rob is the main point of contact for clients registered for Making Tax Digital for Income Tax. With his own experience as a sole trader, he understands the practical day-to-day challenges involved. He also looks after a growing number of sole traders and limited companies.

Danielle

Danielle is our administration contact for clients. Her day-to-day work includes data entry, collating and chasing paperwork, and maintaining client records in line with the requirements for accountancy firms. She will also be taking on a small number of clients as time moves forward.

If you need to speak to any of us, please get in touch.

Is a limited company right for your business?

For many growing businesses, operating as a limited company can offer a number of advantages. A limited company is a separate legal entity from its owners, helping to separate personal and business finances and providing limited liability in many circumstances.

However, running a limited company also brings additional responsibilities, including annual accounts, Corporation Tax, Companies House filings and maintaining accurate financial records.

Where can an accountant help?

We can support the financial and administrative side of running your company, including:

  • Preparing and filing annual company accounts
  • Calculating and submitting Corporation Tax returns
  • Advising on salary, dividends and extracting profits tax-efficiently
  • Managing VAT and PAYE where applicable
  • Keeping bookkeeping and financial records in order
  • Helping you understand your company’s financial position
  • Providing tax-planning advice as your business grows
  • Helping you plan ahead rather than simply dealing with tax after the year has ended

Being a limited company is not simply about paying less tax. It is about choosing the right structure for your business and managing it correctly. If you are currently a sole trader and wondering whether becoming a limited company could be right for you, speak to us before making the switch. We can look at your individual circumstances and explain the options available to you.
